Masterbuilt Gravity Series Grills & Smokers – FAQ

1. What is the Masterbuilt Gravity Series?

The Masterbuilt Gravity Series combines the convenience of digital controls with the flavor of charcoal grilling and smoking. It features a gravity-fed charcoal hopper, a digital fan for precise temperature control, and the ability to grill, smoke, sear, bake, and roast.

2. What models are available in the Gravity Series?

Masterbuilt offers several models in the Gravity Series, including:

    •    600 (600 sq. in. of cooking space)

    •    800 (800 sq. in. + built-in griddle)

    •    1150 (1150 sq. in., the latest larger model)

•.   XT (1260 sq in., the largest model)

Each model has similar technology but varies in cooking space and extra features.

3. How does the Gravity Series work?

The grill uses a gravity-fed charcoal hopper that holds lump charcoal or briquettes. A digital fan automatically adjusts airflow to maintain the set temperature, making it easy to achieve precise heat control for both grilling and smoking.

4. What type of charcoal should I use?

You can use either lump charcoal or briquettes. Lump charcoal burns hotter and cleaner, while briquettes provide longer, steadier burns. Wood chunks can also be added for additional smoke flavor.

5. How long does it take to heat up?

    •    225°F (107°C) in about 10 minutes for smoking

    •    450°F (232°C) in about 15 minutes

    •    700°F (371°C) in about 20 minutes for high-heat searing

6. Can I smoke low and slow with a Gravity Series grill?

Yes! The digital temperature control and fan allow you to maintain steady low temperatures (225-275°F) for long smoking sessions. Adding wood chunks to the charcoal hopper enhances the smoky flavor.

7. How do I clean and maintain my Gravity Series grill?

    •    Ash Removal: Empty the ash bin after each cook.

    •    Grates & Interior: Scrape off residue and do a high-heat burn-off.

    •    Fan & Hopper: Check for charcoal buildup and clear out dust.

    •    Exterior: Wipe with a damp cloth to maintain the finish.

8. How long does charcoal last in the hopper?

    •    A full hopper can last 8-10 hours at 225°F (low and slow smoking).

    •    At higher temps, burn time decreases due to increased airflow.

9. Can I control my Masterbuilt Gravity Series grill remotely?

Yes! The grill connects to the Masterbuilt app via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, allowing you to set and monitor temperatures, adjust fan speed, and receive notifications on your phone.

10. Can the Gravity Series be used in cold weather?

Yes! The insulated design helps maintain temperatures even in cold and windy conditions. However, using a grill cover and keeping the hopper dry will improve performance.

11. What accessories are available for the Gravity Series?

Masterbuilt offers several accessories, including:

    •    Griddle insert

    •    Rotisserie kit

    •    Pizza stone insert

    •    Extra cooking racks and covers

12. What is the warranty on Masterbuilt Gravity Series grills?

Masterbuilt provides a one-year limited warranty on the Gravity Series grills. Be sure to register your grill and follow proper maintenance to ensure longevity.
